Silk

The Silk is a gourmet restaurant expanding sensual indulgence onto ears and eyes: Modern cuisine, futuristic interior- and light-designs combined with mind-expanding musical landscaped that creates an acoustic and visual harmony.


Similar to a private occasion all guests arrive at the same time. Entering the spherical ambience of Roman and Asiatic dinner cultures guest stretch out on white leather couches with cosy cushions. Decent changing lights dim the room in a powdery colour. For a starter host and high class chef Mario Lohninger offers an aperitif stimulating all culinary receptors and preparing for the following courses. 

The chef tasting menue combines aromas of French, Asian and American cuisine. His precise compositions surprise and animate while every ingredient is individually arranged on the especially made silk porcelains.

 

This sensually complete event has already been highly awarded by Gault Millau, Schlemmeratlas („Feast atlas“), „Der Feinschmecker“ („The gourmet“) and recently even with one Michelin star!

MARIO LOHNINGER - Chef of the year 2011

Mario has an inexhaustible elan to create and implement innovative culinary visions. His life is extraordinary and rich in variety and flavoured with surprising details. The Austrian, choosing Frankfurt as his home, cannot be categorised into one specific corner as he is merging his multi cultural influences into a new style, a style of its own. However one thing is for sure: Mario Lohninger creates only delicious and perfectly made dishes with ingredients you cannot find on the menu: heart and soul. The ingredients Lohninger chooses and uses live of their natural aromas and he abandons unnecessary experiments. For his culinary peak perfomance at the silk in Frankfurt he received one Michelin star in 2006. Gault Millau awarded Mario Lohninger as „Chef of the Year 2011“.
