Cocoon Ibiza – date 5
Ibiza & Formentera
And then everything really did go a bit crazy – you get the early shows and then the sun starts to get hotter and suddenly by the 4th week. everyone is getting hotter and sweatier.
There is something reassuring about Sven and Ricardo under the same roof on a Monday. You feel everything must be all right with the world. Sonja Moonear , Mano Le Tough and the excellent new boys Martyne, Bodin and Jacob made it an incredibly interesting musical night from start to finish – as usual. Here is how we follow that explosion of sound and colour:
On the terrace :
We hope you got that first fix of Sven in the main room last week. It was a pounder. It was brillliant. This is a super terrace night however with Acid Pauli setting the scene. Is i tour imagination or does Sven seem tob e getting younger?
Well this is a first and a fine one. Acid Pauli brings even more Ibiza to Ibizas most potent party and a lot of colourful chums will no doubt be joining you on the dancefloor. We really look forward to this first expedition.
In the main room :
Knocking the ball around here there and everywhere and after supporting Nina Kraviz on his last show in Amnesia tonight his effotless punchy power and charisma will take you through to the close. Not to be missed
And nor ist he outstanding Josh Wink. Such an influential character with a track record that might surprise you. He has popped up with so much excellent work. He very beautifully opened our Cocoon @Tipic Formentera and now a chance for his main room sound. Excellent.
Under the radar but for how long. An Ibiza specialist who is spreading his wings and cropping up with some blinding sets that smell strongly of Ibiza but work perfectly anywhere. As usual we say get down early for another fine artist on the up.
A frothy intriguing night of dance music is bounding your way
We are 18 and still improving. That must be the reason

Cocoon Compilation Q – out now!
Cocoon Recordings presents „Q“ – the new edition of one of the longest running techno compilation series worldwide! We do not want to start again by mentioning how unbelievable it is that we have reached letter Q already … and we do not even want to imagine how fast we will probably arrive at XYZ, if time continues to fly like this. The actual thrilling part of this compilation series is simply the fact that Techno seems to not grow any older in this form – isn’t this amazing?
Here, in the truest sense of the word, we have a compilation of timeless material before us. With a broad bandwidth ranging from „futuristic-deconstructive“ compositions such as “Da Dang” by Alex & Digby and “Fragile” by Carlos Nilmmns or the many contributions to Q that fancy almost anachronistic acid and trance influences: Everything sounds fresh and forward thinking!
The vocal parts and the arrangement of “All I Can (About you)” by Baba Stiltz appear like electronic singer songwriting. The musical approach of Baba Stiltz is slightly similar to big Pepe Bradock productions and their Dada aesthetic. In contrast to this, “Anno Domini” by Kamran Sadeghi follows the sound approach of early Maurizio / Basic Channel records and reminds us that modern techno does not always have to be impulsive and kicking, and certainly does not define itself over the most extreme “drops” (sick!).
Harmonies and melodies of all kinds and the almost dreamy and playful sound arrangements are something like the common element on Q. For example, “Ode to Be” by Sebastian Mullaert works like a decent sunriser that marks the end of a long night. We especially dig the almost shamanic vocalsamples here! Harald Björk takes it a few steps further in the harmony corner. His song “Spring” is on the edge to an ambient / chill out song and unfolds a a great hypnotic effect. “Toms Heimweh“ by Acid Pauli and the demanding “Sequence in D” by Fort Romeau follow into a similar direction, however both pieces are build on slightly more solid beats despite their melodic basic mood.
What brings us to the tracks of the middle section of Q – because there is a lot of material with even more power and floor potential waiting for us. Above all is “Blitzar” by US legend John Tejada. Metallically cool, but equally sexy and bass-heavy at the same time, Tejada throws crazy designed sounds on us – what an insane master piece! “Pulse Train” by Söllscher & Siech, on the other hand, follows a more traditional techno approach with a strong beat & bass foundation and cool acid lines that slowly build up in interaction with a driving ride. The „vapourspacy“ string sounds make the Detroit Techno reminiscence finally complete. All things acid is the way to go for Johannes Volk, too. His “Luminance” is a bit more consistent in an almost old-school acid manner and appears to be something like the most clubby track of the album. “If I’d Care More” by Rico Puestel is perfectly set in the tracklisting on position 6 as is turns out this one is something like the “all-embracing track” on Q: Puestel unites in his contribution the different approaches and lines of the other pieces and delivers the secret title track of the compilation. Here you can find dry and kicking beats, dreamy melody parts, but also hypnotic basslines and lots of crazy sounds in the arrangement. Exactly like the overall vibe of Q this one can’t described as “futuristic” and certainly not “oldskool” – it is simply timeless! Puestel brings the essence of Q to the point and this track alone makes us confident that there will an issue R following next year… „es wird immer weiter gehen, Musik als Träger von Ideen“ (Kraftwerk).

Cocoon Formentera – Date 2
Ibiza & Formentera
The opening of our mid week special was an absolute lily. Early action on the dance floor because a new favourite is in our midst. Cesar Vinzent. He set up Josh Wink who responded by drenching the Tipic dancefloor in pleasure. He pulled all sorts of chestnuts out of the box in a marvellous set that kicked off our biggest ever Tipic season
Number 2 has a blissful feel to it:
Too cool for school these guys, even cooler than last year when they made an early mark on Tipic with their distinctive enveloping grooves that had everyone woozy in a good way. Now they are out on the road and making some serious new friends as well as a new label. Look out for Just This Vinyl and some heady mixtures. Very happy to have them for our second Thursday session
Local legend Roberto knows his way around this island – and also his extensive record collection. Look out for him this year and look out for him tonight because last season he was a big part of one of the best nights of the year. Always in fact at this lovely club, get down early
Join us at Tipic for a chat and a dance again this Thursday, and every Thursday. And then tell us to get to work early on Friday. It can be a bit too good this party…….

Cocoon Ibiza – Date 4
Ibiza & Formentera
The boys and girls night last Monday. The terrace was feverish. Fabio Florido to Gaiser Live ing it up and then our first Richie of the season and hours that went all too quickly. 4 more exclusive chances to see the maestro this year and try not to miss any of them Over in the club the climate was also tropical. Anthea and tINI toyed with the crowd before Nina Kraviz rammed the techno ball into the net for the 2nd time in 3 weeks.
Three Mondays of motivational music have set us up for a knee trembler on week 4 spearheaded by legends. Cast your eyes over this proposal for a Monday night out :
In the main room
Formidable this year, some stunning gigs already on the summer tour. However when Sven steps into the main room of Amnesia for the first time in any season you know what to do. Drop everything. Go and listen to some records spun by someone who knows this room backwards and forwards
MANO LE TOUGH
Those of you who witnessed his ferocious sets last season will no doubt be in position for another excursion with Mano Le Tough on his only show with us this year. If you missed him then be assured he will warm up the main room in a sultry fashion
On the terrace :
Greetings Ricardo. We had to wait until week number 4 for the first of your 6 exclusive Cocoon Ibiza shows this year. Nothing more needs to be said. Well lets just add that many of us are dribbling with anticipation
There are 4 portions of poetry coming your way from Sonja this year. 3 here on the terrace and 1 in the main room come July. It has been quite a year for Moonear and the best strategy must be to get a piece of it immediately – why wait?
MARTYNÉ B2B BODIN&JACOB
Don’t know these guys? You soon will, Traffic Records. Daring, innovative, playful music that cannot be pinned down. Not so long ago these 3 joined a Boiler Room inspired celebration of 20 years of Cocoon at our Frankfurt HQ. It took two weeks to tidy up the office but it was well worth it. This is not a night to arrive late.
What a line-u p tonight! Gosh.
We are 18 for a reason
